I picked up my 5-year-old from school today.

Somewhere along the way of my parenting years, I was never informed that kids who turn five suddenly get a boost in the confidence department.

Here's today's conversation during the drive home:

Me: Hey, Buddy. I see you in the mirror.

Hayden: Mommmmmmmm. Why are you looking at me?

Me: Because I think you're cute.

Hayden: Look, Mom. I'm not cute.

Me: Yes, you are.

Hayden: No, I'm NOT...I'm COOL.

Who turns down cute?
