The movie within the movie
Greg and I took the boys to see the movie Wall-E. I'll be honest, it wasn't my favorite. In reality, I missed part of the movie. That's because when my family goes to see a film, half of the time is spent telling the boys to "whisper."A good 20 minutes into the film, Greg leaned over and said to me, "This was a big mistake." Let me explain.Within minutes of sitting down, with popcorn and drinks for all, Hayden announces to the entire theatre, "I HAVE TO PEE!" We go take care of business.Griffin then insists he MUST switch seats with his Dad due to a pesty gnat that keeps circling around him. I see Greg punching in the darkness trying to grab the bug to keep Griff happy. No luck.Every 60 seconds, we and the rest of the theatre could hear my 3-year-old imitating the robots in the film saying, "Wall-EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE." Shhhhh, inside voice Hayden.Hayden, still speaking very loudly, announces he wants to "go to the conthesson stand and get some thkittles" as only he can say. Then, another trip to the restroom for Hayden, who would rather play with the automatic towel dispenser than see the end of the movie.Later, Hayden turns around and tells the two people behind us that he "wants his blankie." I'm now counting down the minutes till its over.Next, Hayden crawls into my lap and starts flicking my earrings, telling the first three rows, "You're wearing your pretty things, Mommy. Aren't you? Aren't you wearing pretty things?" Yes, Hayden, Mommy is wearing pretty things. Mommy is also sportin a headache. But, we made it. On the way out, Hayden exclaims, "That was great!"It sure was.
